receive e HOTA form a few weeks ago. for those who dunno wat HOTA is, its human organ transplant act or something like tt.. anyway, govt will send letters to those who are gg to 21 to ask if they wan to opt out of it. i dun tink much of it cos im gg to ignore it. i thot most pple will feel e same as me until a pri sch fren sms me to ask if im opting out of HOTA today.
i tink she's deciding whether to opt out anot. i dunno for others, but for me, i tink if my organs is still useful after im gone, why not use it to help others? i see no point in opting out. i noe others may be tinking twice abt HOTA after tt "organ fighting" incident.. fyi, e "organ fighting" incident happen a few months ago in a local hospital where the family of a brain-dead man are told tt his organs are to be donated to other pple cos he dint opt out of HOTA when he's alive. then his family begged e hospital to let them have 1 more day cos they have gone to e temple and e "god" told the family tt e man will wake up. anyway, brain dead patient cannot wake up. brain dead is not a same as a zhi wu ren (vegetable, dunno if e spelling is e same as e vegetable we eat.. haha. but u all can understand can le) zhi wu ren may wake up someday but a brain dead person have no chance of waking up. but e hospital agree and allow e family to keep e man for 1 more day. on day 2, e man still have not wake up so e doctor wanted to proceed on with e organs donation to help pple in need. but e family refused and insist tt he will wake up cos e "god" say so. but, by tt time, some of e organs can no longer be used for transplant cos maybe e organs got infected or something.. meaning less pple can benefit now.. so e doc cant give e family more days cos if e days drag on, all e organs may not be suitable already. so e 'organ fight' began and it was reported on e papers.
anyway, if im e doc, i cant imagine how helpless i feel... how to convince e family tt e man cant wake up anymore no matter wat e 'god' says. maybe e doc dint really handle e situation well oso lar.. e family may not be able to accept e fact tt someone dear to them is gone. but i still tink singaporeans need to be better educated in such things.. especially the older generation. wats e point of keeping e organs when e person is dead. giving others a new life is much more impt tt keeping e organs then finally burn them when e body is cremated. tts wat i tink lar.
i tink most of u have received e HOTA form le rite? dint anybody opt out?? lol. im interested to noe.. tag me!!
